South County Athletic Association (SCAA) has youth sports programs in the Lorton / Springfield VA area for football, soccer, cheerleading, lacrosse, basketball, field hockey, wresting, volleyball, and track.
Our season typically begins with practice on the first Monday in August. In August we practice every weekday, then in September it scales back to 3 days per week. The "regular" season starts in mid-September and is usually completed the last weekend in October. Games are typically on Saturdays, but Sundays and weekdays are possible as well. Teams eligible for the play-offs will continue to play into November. Final games (County Championships) are completed by 2nd weekend in November.

The Football Program is designed to provide fundamental instruction in the game of football, in addition to providing for the physical, mental, and emotional development of each child who participates. This is accomplished through emphasis on sportsmanship, team play, self-discipline, maximum effort, integrity, and maximum participation. See the Parent Handbook for answers to common questions.
We continue to host a program every year that is fun, exciting and instructional. We can assure our returning and new SCAA players and families that they will get the attention and stability necessary to enjoy a successful season. This past season we had 8 teams with approximately 140 players and this upcoming year we are expecting even more.
Our football program participates in the Fairfax County Youth Football League (FCYFL) along with approximately 20 other individual youth clubs (listed below) that field teams in the various weight classes from Anklebiter through 155 pound and approximately 5000 participants. Our program is open to kids ages range from 7 to 16 years old (see notes for 130lb and 155lb weight classes). Teams are divided up by a combination of age, weight and experience. This is a no-cut program, where everyone is selected for a team and each player must play a significant portion of every league game. For more information on FCYFL visit www.fcyfl.com.
