Our hope is that your family will (re)join one of the fastest growing sports for both women and men in the U.S. and around the world here at your local youth club.  Although, we primarily service students zoned for the South County HS pyramid, we are not bound by zip code restrictions and welcome all who would like to register.

SCAA offers volleyball during the fall and spring seasons for girls and boys in Grades 4-8.  Click here for FEES.

  1. Fall: Early Sep - mid Nov

  2. Spring: mid Mar - mid Jun  ​



There are 3 recreational leagues...4th grade preparatory, elementary, and middle.  All leagues are co-ed, meaning a team can consist of both girls and boys.

Depending on the interest and skill level, there may be a middle school travel league (There will be a box for you to check when you register). If there is enough interest for travel volleyball, an email will be sent with tryout details.

Team Formation​​ - Every player will be placed on a team.  Each team will consist of at least 1 coach and 6-10 players.  There are no tryouts or evaluations for recreation. 

​Coaches are vital to the success of the program and ensure players have maximum touches and ample playing time.  After all, a player learns to play the game by playing the game.  If interested, please click here.

  • No experience is necessary. 

  • Coaches will have at least one coaches training before the start of the season (pending gym availability) or at the beginning of the season. 

  • If a student (age 14 - 17) wants to coach, they must be assisted with an adult 18+. 


Practice/Games - We will do our best to accommodate schedules, please include a comment with preferences when you register.




4th Grade Prep

1 day/wk for 1 hr



1 day/wk for 1 hr or 1.5 hrs

1 day/wk for 1 hr (Th or F)


1 day/wk for 1 hr or 1.5 hrs

1 day/wk for 1 hr (Th or F)


2 days/wk for 1.5 hrs or 2 hrs

1 day/wk for 1 hr (W)

*Note: We have requested gym space in Lorton and West Springfield. Actual practice duration will depend on amount of gym space approved by FCPS (usually 1 week before beginning of season).


What to wear/bring to practice?

Each player will need to wear athletic clothes (top and bottom), non marking tennis shoes, and kneepads to practice.  They will need to bring water bottles and a high school regulation volleyball (players in 4th-6th grade should bring a Volley Lite).   

What to wear/bring to games?

Each player will be provided with a SCAA volleyball shirt to wear to games.  Players must provide bottoms, tennis shoes, kneepads, and water.  Coaches will bring game balls.
